  Photoelectric sensor is a kind of device which converts optical signal into electrical signal.It works based on the photoelectric effect.Photoelectric effect refers to the phenomenon that when light is irradiated on some materials,the electrons of the materials absorb the energy of photons and have corresponding electrical effect.According to the different photoelectric effect phenomena,the photoelectric effect is divided into three categories:external photoelectric effect,internal photoelectric effect and photovolt-generating effect.Photoelectric devices have photocell,photomultiplier tube,photoresistor,photodiode,phototransistor,photocell and so on.The performance and characteristic curves of photoelectric devices are analyzed.
  Photoelectric sensor is generally composed of processing path and processing element.The basic principle is based on the photoelectric effect,which converts the measured changes into the changes of optical signals,and then further converts the non-electrical signals into electrical signals with the help of photoelectric elements.Photoelectric effect refers to the light illuminate an object,can be seen as a series of a certain energy for photon bombardment on the object,the photon energy is passed to the electronics,and total energy of a photon is one-time absorption by an electron,electronic after the energy of the photon transfer will change its state,so that the light objects produce corresponding electric effect.Photoelectric effect is usually divided into three categories:(1)external photoelectric effect is the phenomenon that can make electrons escape from the surface of objects under the action of light,such as photocell,photomultiplier tube,etc.(2)the phenomenon that can make the object's resistivity change under the action of light is called internal photoelectric effect,such as photosensitive resistance,photosensitive transistor,etc.(3)under the action of light rays,the phenomenon of electromotive force generated by objects in a certain direction is called photovolt-generating effect,such as photovoltaic cells.
  Photoelectric detection method has the advantages of high precision,fast response,non-contact and so on,and can be measured parameters,sensor structure is simple,flexible and diverse forms,so the photoelectric sensor is widely used in detection and control.
